How To Get More Followers On Twitter…?

“How do you raise your worth enough to attract followers on Twitter”? This question is asked by many, yet only a few people know the answer…and trust me, I’m one of those very few! In this article, I’ve shared my secretive insights to become such a Twitter member that people want to follow…whole-heartedly!

To capture a large number of Twitter followers and grow your social media marketing, here are the traits you must possess:

1. Be Exciting

Write whatever you want (even if it’s about what you had in breakfast) but make sure your expression is interesting for the readers. Conventional and boring expressions may make you lose your followers while witty lines can make you excel. Here’s an example:

“Why spend money on a cycle when I can use my feet?”

or

“Walking is a better exercise than cycling…”

The prior is a much better writing approach than the latter.

2. Provide Useful Information

Tweeting is not only about ‘what you had for breakfast’ or ‘what your daily routine is’, but its more about sharing useful information that brings value to the readers. To make a remarkable Twitter presence, you have to write informational stuff that benefits people and give them something new to learn each day. An easy way is to ‘retweet’ a good post and share that useful info with your followers.

3. Be Responsive and Communicative

Don’t be an unknown person who posts and then vanishes. To build a strong followers list, you have to respond to the comments made by readers on your posts and engage them in an interesting conversation. The more you participate, the more successful you will be!

4. Promotion Is Essential

If you can do it properly, nothing can beat the promotion you can do through Twitter. If you have written an interesting blog post or have recently launched your website, you can use Twitter to promote it in an appealing manner.

5. Get Rid Of Auto-Responders

Are you using some automated software that tweets a link to your every new post or generates an auto ‘thank you’ to the comments you receive? If so, please turn it off and be more personal and involved. No one likes the feeling of being spammed, so try making comments that are genuine, even if they are one-liners!

6. Don’t Over-Engage

Ever seen those long series of tweets that just never seem to end? Please avoid those. If you end up conversing with one person (or should I say arguing), it’s better to switch that conversation to direct messages or email.

7. Find Harmony

If you are using Twitter only for the purpose of marketing or promoting yourself, at one point your followers will get annoyed and remove you from their list. To keep yourself real, you have to find the balance between internet marketing and non-marketing information.

8. Be Humble

What will be your first reaction upon receiving a message from someone you’ve just followed, and it states: “Thanks for following me! Be sure to visit me at (URL) and see how perfect I am!” you’d definitely want to un-follow this stuck up person, wont you? So stop being proud and try being as humble and kind as possible.

Bottom Line: To be a good twitter user having many followers, make sure you don’t let loose the above mentioned traits!

Awesome tips!

I really like No.2 Provide Useful Information and No.5 Get Rid Of Auto-Responders.

“you have to write informational stuff that benefits people and give them something new to learn each day” I see so many people not doing this. It is essential if you want to be seen as a genuine person, rather than a spammer.

I had a question regarding links in Twitter.

If you want to direct someone to your website, which link should you put in the tweet? the original link or a shortened link like bit.ly or whatever…

Why do people use url shortners in their tweet, besides making more room for words?

Even if there is a lot of space in the tweet, I see many url shortened links…what is the reason that they use it, even when there is space for the full link?

Thanks,
Nabeel

Hi Nabeel

Twitter allows 140 characters for message. By shortening URL so can use more characters to explain your link in words.
